We are CYBER SENTINEL,
Guardians of the Cyber world, a community entirely dedicated to cyber security. UPES-CYBER SENTINEL came into existence on 28th January 2020, on the occasion of International Data Privacy Day.
UPES Cyber Sentinel is a technical student chapter at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. With a vision to facilitate students in their Cyber Security endeavours through extracurricular activities, mentoring and adhering to the Cyber Security Trends, and making them cyber aware.
We conduct CTFs, Workshops, Talks, Challenges, Solutions, and guidance as a team of cyber security enthusiasts. We hanker from raising a guild of terrific cyber maniacs to make the common public aware of the primary axioms of security. A crew of the next generation attackers and defenders bent on building up the toughest armors in cyber warfare.

  • An industry expert session, that had one of the top influencers in cyber security, Mr. Archie Jackson the senior director, and head of IT and Security at Incedo Inc. and an Advisory Board member of UPES DEHRADUN. The participants had the opportunity to get a real life exposure through the talk to the security industry and also have a one on one interaction with the industrial expert.

  • A pirate-themed CTF allowed the participants to live like a pirate for a day and showcase their cyber-security skills. A 6-hour long offline CTF with technical and physical challenges. A journey to find the greatest treasure of all - the opposing team's flag! The participants had to navigate through files like treacherous seas, solve puzzles, engage in battles, and escape the island to claim their victory.
  • Bug Ploison 3.0 brought an opportunity to show problem solving skills and provide secure coding. The participants were required to find errors and vulnerabilities in the piece of code assigned. An event aimed to improve the collaborative, creativity and combined skills.
  • C PROGRAMMING was a workshop to strengthen the programming backbones. The participants were exposed to the fundamentals and taken on a ride to explore the critical implementations. An exposure to the C language and bringing the tech geeks out to the lane of programming and coding.
  • OWASP JUICE SHOP was a workshop to provide the attendees a latitude to escalate in security.A live demonstration of hacking into a juice website, to raise awareness and understanding of software security. The participants solved the challenges along side and advanced together in the scoreboard.
  • Beginners Guide to CTF was an online workshop aimed to help the students to have a walkthrough on CTFs and the challenges they revolve around. Exposing them to the world of security through Capture The Flag and making them involved in the pearls cyber world, making it known to them about the perks CTF can bring into their security endeavours.
  • " Introduction to Python and its use in Cyber Security" was a workshop that introduced the participants to the mights of Python and its tools. A walk through the fiery spectrum of python's fundamentals to advanced versions. The plethora of python's applications are vast and fruitful to any programmer was demostrated in the workshop.
  • INTRODUCTION TO KALI LINUX was an online workshop that aimed to bring the advantages of Kali Linux to the students. How the operating is used and how it works. The importance of it in security and the flow of an entirely different and capable OS in the computer science world of different IDEs and Operating systems.
  • It was a workshop for the students who are interested in HACK THE BOX challenges.In this workshop we taught students regarding the different-different technique andchallenges.There was a small quiz round also for checking the efficiency of participants.
